  Art Packages
I would like to talk about how we could work together to produce a "package plan" for a weekend art workshop that may include a weekend of lodging, eating, arts events and eco tours etc. I would like to promote this as a package that would be included in the promotional materials of all of the partners who would collaborate on the project.

Idea Premises

The premise of this project would be to provide an experience to a potential student of some genre of the arts that would take care of all of the needs of the student and give him or her a combination of activities that would be of value to him or her while sending business to local small businesses . The participating businesses would receive the benefit of having their information included on the mailings of the rest of the businesses.

The first step of this I think would be to find out when we plan to schedule winter/fall worskhops again this year (if we are doing them again) - perhaps we could offer it the same weekend as a coffee house or theatre lab type performance? Then find the other pieces of the package to go with it.

Eastport, Arts, Center
Hello! I love the idea of packaged plans. There is something similar that we parttake in up here in the Eastport/Lubec/New Brunswick area which is called ElderHostel. Is is a really great program where people usually over the age of 50, from all over the United States travel to a certain area and partake in eco-tourism, arts, culture, etc. www.elderhostel.org But, I think that your idea is wonderful because it is dealing with people more local, though they also could be from away. I think that giving people the oppurtunity to explore the local area around them is a good introduction into the complexity of the individuals who live in the area, such as artists and craftspeople. Sheila Shanti, who now owns a wonderful gallery in Milbridge, is actually doing something very similar to what you propose minus the lodging & art events. She has created a 3 day Schooner trip from Milbridge to Eastport, which is intended for artists that will allow them to study the ocean & the sky while they travel on a schooner. This will give the students an entirely different perspective on seascape painting & they get to travel to another beautiful coastal community . Please let me know how you would like to go about doing this wonderful plan. We have so many artists up in Eastport and many cultural events at the Arts Center. There is also the Tides Museum which will eventually have a print studio up and running. Shelby

Hi, Schoodic Arts for All. I like your art package idea. Some questions for you. When would you like to offer this package plan? Would you offer the package for one weekend or would you look to offer multiple weekends? How would people buy the package? Who would sell it? Each business involved in the package or would Schoodic Arts for All sell it directly? Do you have any partners already in mind? I think this is a very promising idea. I have experience in hospitality packaging. I have built and sold both a lodging company and a travel services company. I will look for your answers to these questions posted here. I can be available as a hourly consultant and or would work for a percentage of the potential profits. I also believe this could be a potential business model for other towns and entrepreneurs in Maine to replicate.
