Performing Arts Tours
Current Projects
If anyone in the local Downeast Maine region is interested, I am looking for arts organization & booking auditoriums to help book tours for performing artists who have bigger names. We have a very small operating budget for performances and usually only do a 25% (us) 75% cut of the house. We are interested in booking an array of performers, but no one is really that interested in traveling to Eastport when we only have a 106 seats in our auditorium, unless they are on a tour. Please let me know if anyone is interested in this plan, and we can get together and work on it for 2009 & 2010 seasons. Idea Premises A New England or Canadian Band would be great to bring into the state of Maine. If a group of us worked together to book them at different locations, they would get more out of their experience in Maine.

hey breanna,
between SAFA and EAC, we could definitely book bands & instructors without worries of taking audience members away from each other. Eastport is the perfect distance away from Winter Harbor that this system could work. Perhaps we could get a New Brunswick art group involved, and then the bands could do an international tour too.

We've been discussing this kind of idea at SAFA and the concern is that if a performer is booked in too close a proximity (date and distance) then it reduces the amount of people who come to each concert - for example - Ameranouche played at the grand about a month before it played at our festival and our attendance was quite a bit lower than I thought it should have been.
I wonder if there are folks who have used a system like this who could comment on the pros and cons of it and how to make it work best for all venues involved.
