Deer Isle Creative Workshops offers two-day workshops in two topics: (1) THE ART OF PUBLICITY FOR ARTISTS AND CRAFTSPEOPLE. Publicity, free publicity is one of the best ways to market creative work. The basics are easy to learn. The two-day workshops will help you toot your own horn and introduce you to all hte publicity tools you need to spread the word about your work: how to write and when to use press releases, press kits and more! Lots of fun mini-writing exercises, friendly feedback, numberous tip-sheets and more. (2) SILK FUSION - a new craft medium, also known as "silk paper," that used dyed, unspun silk fibers. The results can be used as fabric or paper. It can be painted, stitched, sculpted, manipulated to create 2 -and 3- dimensional "paintings" (like in photo), used in collage, book arts, computer printer or to create wearable art. The two-days workshops introduce students to basic as well as advanced materials. ALL WORKSHOPS offer lively instruction in a friendly supportive atmosphere.
